Blends for Freddo

One of the most frequently asked questions by coffee lovers is "Which coffee is right for Freddo"? Of course, there is no single answer to this question, as the matter of personal taste is very important.

The "strong ones", for Freddo Espresso that does not lose its body. One of the biggest "enemies" of Freddo Espresso is the feeling of "watering", as the ice melts and dilutes our coffee. As coffee is generally drunk hot, it is not always easy to discover coffees that retain their body, flavor and aroma in cold brews. Not a few coffee lovers prefer blends with a relatively high Robusta content for their Freddo Espresso or Freddo Cappuccino, as Robusta provides intensity and body to the blend, keeping the taste and feel of the coffee unchanged. Even those who don't particularly like the "bad boy" of coffee, Robusta, will change their minds after tasting a delicious freddo from a blend with a 30-40% Robusta content.

In contrast to those who enjoy the intensity of Robusta in the iced version of espresso, there are of course the "unrepentant": the keen lovers of Arabica who insist on enjoying its special, complex aromas in a Freddo Espresso or Freddo Cappuccino. There is no "right and wrong" in coffee, as it is important to enjoy coffees that suit our personal taste buds. A blend of aromatic Arabica can of course, in the hands of an experienced barista or home barista, give excellent results in cold brews – it just requires, perhaps, a little more care.
